THE SOUP FROM NOBODY | A Comedy Murder Mystery

A group of misfits is lured to dine at a spooky mansion in Romania, to share in the most enticing meal of them all: Soup! However, when the enigmatic host appears to be missing, ghostly voices begin to echo through the mansion, and one of the guests is suddenly killed, it becomes clear that they’re all in danger. Sarcasm-fueled squabbles, hilarious misunderstandings, awkward love stories, and slapstick skirmishes ensue as the company attempt to uncover who – or what – is behind this elaborate scheme.
“The Soup From Nobody” is a farcical, spooky, modern comedy murder mystery by Brisbane-based writer Dan Pohlmann, and was the winner of the audience vote at our 2024 New Voices Scratch Night.

NEW VOICES: SCRATCH NIGHT 2025

The “New Voices” Scratch Night is a showcase of local writing talent! Four up-and-coming writers from Brisbane and the Gold Coast have each submitted an idea for a stage play, along with an opening 10-minute excerpt of their script. Each of these excerpts will be performed as live readings, and with a variety of writing styles and genres – from comedy and fantasy to adventure and murder mystery – there’s sure to be something for everyone.
At the end of the evening, YOU – the audience – will get to anonymously vote on which play you’d like to see developed into a full show, and Thundering Productions will collaborate with the winning writer to stage their play in 2026!
