The Heartbreak Club is a hilarious, new comedy by Gold Coast writer Kate Paraskevos, and is the second play to be staged through our “New Voices” programme. The Heartbreak Club was Kate’s entry at our 2025 “New Voices” Scratch Night, and was selected by the audience as the play they’d most like to see produced in full. We at Thundering Productions are so thrilled to be working with Kate to bring her script to life on stage!

About the Show
The Heartbreak Club is a dark comedy about heartbreak, healing, and (possibly) homicide. A group of women, all betrayed by the same ex-boyfriend, come together to form “The Heartbreak Club” in an effort to heal from their shared traumas. Bound by their collective resentment, their path to healing soon takes a dark turn… into a chilling plot to murder him.
Audition & Character Details
AUDITION DATES: Open group auditions will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday 1st March at the Broadbeach Cultural Centre.
PERFORMANCE DATES: Performances will take place on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June at the Broadbeach Cultural Centre. Some additional performances will be held in Brisbane at the end of May, as part of the Brisbane Anywhere Festival.

We are casting for...
VERONICA – (Female Presenting, 18-30s) The host. Calculated and calm, but vengeful, dark, mysterious, and cool. She is the ringleader. She does not like showing her emotions or expressing her pain. She is tough.
NEVE – (Female Presenting, 18-30s) Chaotic energy. A bit of a dirtbag, but loveable, funny, and passionate. Crass, and over the top.
TESS – (Female Presenting, 18-30s) Practical, logical, smart. But still has a crazy side. Expert stalker, and the brains behind the operation.
CLAUDIA – (Female Presenting, 18-30s) The new girl. Shy and vulnerable, but grows strong. She is kind, gentle, and tries to fit in with the girls.
